Retroactive Pay Time Entry Routine/Batch
For a future enhancement - it would great to have a separate time entry batch or routine for Retroactive Pay. This December we will be processing a full year of retro for all of our employees which includes earnings and deduction codes for retro earnings, retro OT, pensions retro and health benefits retro. Due to the amount that needs to be done, I will be breaking it down into several check batches and fitting it in between the weeks that I do not have to work on regular payroll.
t would be great to have a separate batch so I could work on it during any free moment without rushing to complete in between pays knowing that once I start a new pay (standard time entry routine) it would overwrite all the work I did.
This is being planned.

Please think this out and do it correctly. When we have retro pays it is usually for several years and requires separate checks for everything. It would be better to accomplish this task without doing separate payrolls. There are times that it could mean one person receiving 5 or more checks. We are contractually obligated to cut separate checks, so it is up to the software on how we accomplish it. We are also obligated to designate the year, description, etc. that we are paying for - the last retro we did, our clerk had to manually add an attachment to the checks in order to be in compliance. In my opinion this is unacceptable since we purchased and upgraded software which should allow for better reporting.
